I feel there might be a mistake here. If playing games, it is ideal to change the picture preset to game optimizer mode and enable HGiG. This allows the TV to bypass its own internal HDR tone mapping and allow the display to use the game's tonemapping.

Hi, I live in US and in dilemma to choose between Sony A80J and LG C1. A80J is $400 more than C1. I am just a movie lover and not a gamer at all. I am going to put my TV in my living room which is not too bright and not too dark. I like watching movies by switching on the lights while my kids love to watch in dark.
      1) Is it really worth to push my budget $400 more ? That means, the picture/video quality in C1 is not good and I definitely need to choose A80J or the quality difference is minimal?
      2) Can I achieve the same picture/video quality with these settings?
      3) As a movie lover, what do I need to do get the best picture/video quality so that I don't need to spend $400 extra and I don't miss much?
      TIA.

Since this video there have been a ton of updates to both the TV and the game consoles (I'm only aware of the Xbox Series X).
Do not use the console in PC mode for 4:4:4 chroma, it's negligible for the naked eye and not worth the loss of a few features. The Xbox will recognize movies and TV and change to a cinema setting for the TV. You can turn VRR to gaming only in the Xbox Settings as well.
I then adjusted settings for SDR gaming, HDR gaming, and Dolby Vision Gaming. Then HDR cinema and Dolby Vision cinema.
SDR gaming - I keep it brighter, close to 150 nits settings and use BFI.
HDR gaming - I use around 120 nits settings, and VRR Free Sync, Boosted Low Latency mode. Both consoles are AMD based hardware.
Dolby Vision - Use out of the box settings, VRR Free Sync, Boosted Low Latency mode.
HDR Cinema - Same 120 nits settings, BFI and motion interpolation to be easier on the eyes and smooth the 24 fps.
Dolby Cinema - Out of box settings, BFI and motion interpolation as well.

We just setup this 48 inch C1 tv and love the picture quality compared to the Vizio we just returned. The only thing is, I wish it had a more extensive manual to explain all the features and the operation. I went online to the LG site and they didn't have a manual for the C1 model. Hopefully I can find a detailed printout of the features somewhere. The little bouncy mouse is a little hard to control trying to navigate the screen

Exactly what I thought, I noticed that was missing too, because I have the LG CX OLED TV, (and I have the Xbox One X connected to it), and I want to get the LG C1 TV because I want to get the Xbox Series X someday and I have the HDR Effect picture mode on as default, so now to get HDR picture setting you now have to mess with the settings more and go deeper into settings to get HDR picture, which will take more time to find/achieve than on the LG CX OLED TV because it doesn't have the HDR Effect picture mode like the LG OLED TV has which I like better because it was faster/easier to find to get HDR.

I can’t seem to make “Apply to All Inputs” work. Take HDMI3 and HDMI4 for example. I configure both ports identically using the same picture profile and deep color setting. Starting with HDMI3 I configure the picture settings the way I want for SDR content. One setting for example is OLED brightness. I set it to 50. Finally I click on “Apply to All Inputs. Then I go to HDMI4 which is using the same picture profile and expect to find OLED brightness is now 50. But it’s still the default value of 60. It didn’t change. Don’t know what I could be doing wrong. Thoughts?

Good afternoon. I need your advice. What to do with contrasts on Samsung tv in sdr game mode? A lot of people advise to leave it at 45. Usually it's there at 50. Calibrators reduce it to 40 or 35, and raise the backlight high. But then the brightness of the general background drops.

    • @RTINGSdotcom
      @RTINGSdotcom  Год назад

Well, it depends what TV you're referring to. If you go to our review for the TV you have, you'll see our contrast recommendation. However, 45, 50, 40, etc that sort of thing will vary lots between users, so it's probably best to just try a few different options and see what you think looks best!

I got the TV opened box and used for a fraction of the price.
Id just pick one up by now. I see half HDMI 4k and 8k. the TV is 4k 120hz. couple of places says 8k is HDMI 2.1. Should i worry about it. It's still like that. 120 with 4k will work fine hooked up to the 4k connection right?

I tried lowering sharpness, brightness, enabeling noise reduction and mpeg noise reduction but nothing helps.. If I watch the show on my dads panasonic oled or even my 1080p gaming monitor I almost not notice the grain.. Is it my tv panel or is it a lg c1 thing? Could you please check the show "ritmo salvaje" on netflix? Especially first episode at 21min it is unbareable.. Or is it a dolby thing? I notice this show uses dolby.. Or am I sitting to close? I have a question though, using isf dark room, when I run an sdr black level pattern, with your settings, I cannot see all flashing blocks from 17-25, I'd say I can't see 17,18 & 19. Should I raise the brightness slightly? I'm hesitant too as everyone suggests leaving it at 50.
